Today more than ever, computer animations are being used in and outside of the courtroom. There is nothing more persuasive and comprehensive than an animated presentation. We see them more and more everyday in commercial advertising. Remember that the validity of any animation will be based on the credibility of the information that was used in its creation.

Using exact dimensions of objects, colors, textures, motion and speed are some of the necessary elements in the creation of animations. All objects in a scene are created at a one-to-one scale, which means that one-foot in the scene will equal one-foot in real life. Motion is created at a constant 30 frames per second. Since everything in the animation is created to the correct scale, relative proportions are always maintained.

In many cases scheduled time and cost can be reduced by using objects from Gen-Tek's vast library of models accumulated from past projects. Vehicles used in an accident scene are matched to make, model, year and color. Other colors and textures are obtained from such sources as photographs, descriptions and dimensions, field surveys and by scanning.

The use of animations and the stories that they reveal are only limited by one's own imagination. Applications include the following general categories:

  • accident reconstruction
  • personal injury
  • engineering and construction
  • hazardous waste
  • medical and anatomy issues
