In order to use photographs in a computer environment, they must be converted into digital format. There are several ways to convert photographs into digital format: they can be obtained directly from a digital camera or scanned into the computer using a scanning device.

Once in digital format, the photos can be enhanced for printing, or imported into specific software package for dimension extraction (Photogammetry). Specific areas in the photo can then be highlighted

Photogammetry is the process of extracting dimensions from two-dimensional photographs. The object(s) from which dimensions need to be extracted must appear in more than one photograph and viewed from different angles, preferably from ninety-degree intervals. A lot of pictures do not necessarily mean that you have more information to extract -- it is the way the photos are taken that is most important.

Gen-Tek knows the intricacies in taking survey photographs of objects for the purpose of extracting dimensions. We can evaluate your existing project photographs to see if they meet the criteria for extracting dimensions. Many times we revisit the event scene and take additional photographs and measurements to augment the case's documentation and to expedite the creation of the demonstrative evidence.
